Modular exhibition stands, display boards and promotional systems.

School Display Boards

AYL’s Display Boards have always been popular with schools, universities and colleges. With our many years of experience in providing display products to education providers, it would be a good idea to try and cover the many different kinds of educational presentation systems.

Two of the main factors involved when schools are looking to purchase exhibition display boards would of course be cost and robustness of the display. On the subject of cost, you will find AYL to be very competitive if comparing with other suppliers of display boards. We can honestly say that our prices are the best you will find anywhere in the UK for like for like products. Why you may ask. It’s simple really – we only source display boards in the UK, reducing any shipping costs from the Far East. In turn, because we source from the UK, our quality control is second to none. In the worst case scenario – the display boards become damaged over time, then parts can be easily sourced again within the UK.

On the quality front, all our panels have reinforced corners to ensure they don’t fall apart over time. Luxury nylon loop fabric comes as standard. Alloy framed panels are also available on many of our ranges.

The Display Boards popular for showcasing coursework, artwork and class work we would have to say are our Large Modular Display Boards. These are of panel and pole formation, so are clipped together using a round pole from a C shaped clip that runs off from the panels. The great things about these panels are they can be clipped together in many different looks, from only erecting say just 2 panels and upwards also in many different shapes from being; zig zag,  concertina, crossed, L shaped, C shaped, U shaped etc. The possibilities are endless.

These display boards have a large display panel area on both sides and are Velcro friendly. What is Velcro friendly you may ask? Well posters, graphics, coursework etc can be attached using Velcro hooks. The hook side attaches to the panel and can be easily removed, leaving no markings to the panels time and time again. The back of the Velcro should have a peel back section, which is sticky like sellotape and sticks to coursework, posters etc.

The advantage of using Velcro over drawing pins would be; no pin heads shown on coursework, posters etc and no pin holes left in the posters or boards. However, if you still wish to use drawing pins then they can be used on all our boards.

Display boards popular for school reception and classrooms are our Folding Display Boards, which include our Table Top Displays and our ever popular 6 panel folding display board kits. These systems are hinged and easy fold away when not required. See our folding display board page for more details.

Folding Room Dividers have been a big hit for schools and colleges. They are so multi use they are unreal. Use as a room divider that can be folded away when not in use. Perfect for dividing up a classroom or to cover over say a toy or play equipment area. These concertina screens can also be used displaying coursework, artwork etc, if purchased in the nylon loop fabric range. All concertina screens come as standard with lockable wheels. Available in 3 different heights and in 4, 5, 7 and 9 panels hinged together, and can be arranged in many formations, such as zig zag, L shape, C shape and U shape.

Difference Between Folding and Panel & Pole Display Boards

We get asked a lot, what’s the main differences between folding display boards and the more expensive panel and pole display board sets.

We thought this blog maybe a good way to point out the pro’s and con’s of both systems.

Let’s start with our folding display boards

These boards are double hinged. So if we use our popular 6 panel folding stand as an example. The bottom section of panels which would be the floor standing 3 panels would be held together by hinges that allows the system to fold away with ease and to stand up by unfolding and slightly turning the end panels inwards. The top section would be the same as the bottom section and to build the system, you would simply place the top section of 3 panels on top of the bottom section.

Line the frames up together and apply some force downwards from the top section, so the frames from bottom and top section snap together. When the display boards are new they tend to be quite tight to snap the frames together. The reason for this is that when the frame gives a little over use then the snap action will not be so loose that it falls apart.

The pro’s on folding display board kits are; they are cost affective. Simple and quick to erect. You can use the bottom section or top section as a tabletop desktop display kit.

The con’s on folding kits are; the system cannot be added to, it is what it is, also if you break or damage one panel from the kit, it is back to factory repair, which could end up being as expensive as the system is worth.

Now for panel and pole display boards sets.

These boards are linked together by a round pole. On the frame of the panels, you would either clip in or slide in a C shaped clip which would then grip the round pole. This pole can hold and have multi panels clipped to at once.

The pro’s on panel and pole stands; the panels can be erected in many different configurations, erect almost as many panels together as you require. It is possible to add to the system, purchase two kits of the same system and clip both kits together. Panels can be erected either in portrait position or landscape. Break, damage or lose a panel, pole or clip then all these components are available to purchase from us.

The con’s on panel and pole stands; there is only one to be honest and that is you will generally find these stands are more expensive to buy, than like for like of our folding display board kits.

All our panel stands are UK manufactured. All panels are covered in velcro friendly nylon loop fabric and made with reinforced corners for heavy use.

Banner Stand System

A banner stand can be the ideal presentation tool for business offices or exhibition displays. With a good choice of graphics, they can make an instant, striking first impression on visitors. Banner stands are widely used at conferences, trade shows and exhibitions, and in company entrance foyers and reception areas. In shops, they can be used as part of a window display or at the point of sale (POS).

Plus Points
The main advantage of banner stands are that they are lightweight and highly portable. Adjustable systems can adapt to the size of display required and can come in the form of a roller. These save space when not in use, making them practical for multi-use.

A banner stand can be more suitable than a pop-up display board, as it will generally be light and easy to carry by hand. Velcro can be used to attach graphics easily. Trade show displays can be put up in less than 5 minutes and this can make them ideal for travelling sales professionals who need a display system that is flexible, simple and quick to use.

Ideal environments for banner stands could be a hotel, business entrance, conference or museum exhibit, school, college or universities, and a hospital or clinic.

British Horse Society Exhibits

AYL Display received a phone call from The British Horse Society, who exhibit within the UK at many farming and agriculture shows the length of the country. The purpose for their trade show attendance was to raise awareness of their society, distribute literature, and to give advise on horse riding, care for the horse and work within the industry.

The British Horse Society works hard to improve standards of horse welfare and safety. They also work to increase and protect bridleways.

Their requirements:

The exhibits involved setting up in either marquees, fields and barns. The spec for exhibition products would be for a set of exhibition panel boards that would be small and easy to assemble. They also required a flat area for literature displays or to stand and talk to the public.

AYL Display recommended purchase of the Plex 7 panel folding exhibition stand for these requirements.

The 7 panel kit was purchased and AYL Display also recommended the Plex 50 style exhibition stands, as they are stable panel and pole kits – with T bar feet for that extra stability on uneven floors, such as barns and fields. The British Horse Society liked the idea of extra stability offered by these display boards.

The second product they required would be used for sticking plastic literature holders to via velcro, they would need to be eye level and space was limited on pack way in the lorry. AYL Display recommended The Apex banner systems. Double sided, adjustable and velcro friendly, Apex Banner Display Boards allow literature holders to be stuck on and removed via velcro, which were also purchased from AYL.

rigid display board

The final exhibition product required would be used in school and college environments, so would need to be portable for easy fit into the boot of a car, light enough to carry, and easy to assemble and display posters. AYL Display recommended the Velcro-friendly Omega Fabric Roller – adjustable banner stand system.
